March 10, 2018, is the second Saturday of the month. This means the Fernandina Beach Market Place farmers market will feature nearly 30 arts and craft booths in addition to over 40 tents that are found weekly in the farmers market. You will find the amazing work of local seamstresses in the arts market. Look for Suly Sewing to be at the market on Saturday with a beautiful selection of practical, well-made, hand crafted handbags and purses. Sew What, another seamstress, features lightweight, Florida fashionable ponchos and adorable children’s clothes and accessories. Quilted Treasures features home-made quilts, baby quilts, and table runners that are exquisitely designed from high quality fabrics. You will also find pottery, fine and whimsical jewelry, cork products, wood working and more. Pinnacle is a new vendor in the arts market and they will be sharpening your knives, scissors, and tools, while you wait.
The farmers market will feature the weekly regulars of fresh baked breads, seasonal produce, flavored popcorn, honey, toffee, beef, shrimp, seafood, salmon, scallops and more. Amelia Naturals is back and Wynn can answer all of your questions about foot reflexology. She brings tins of scented wax designed to be massaged into the feet; and who does love a foot massage? Ally is back with her soy candles. Sold in cute Mason jars, or in containers purchased from local non-profit retailers, this young lady designed Scents Amelia with giving back to the local community in mind. Me, Myself and Pies is also back at the farmers market this week as well as Lulu’s at the Thompson House with their crab cakes and pimento cheese spread; JD Beef is back with beef and pork, and Michelle and Michael are back with their Lady Bug jams and jellies.
Are you making home improvements? Are you building a new home? Fernandina Beach and the Nassau County Building Department will have representatives on-site this Saturday to answer questions and provide information about building requirements in our coastal community. The city and county have signed onto the Community Rating System of the NFIP and actions we take together as a community have provided discounts on flood insurance. Building responsibly is one of those actions!
Lucas Merren will be providing our musical entertainment, and Tobacco Free Nassau is our featured “Booth with a Cause”. Tobacco Free Nassau works to prevent the use of tobacco products, encourage and support tobacco cessation, eliminate health hazards of secondhand smoke exposure, and decrease the number of deaths related to tobacco use.
The farmers market is open every Saturday of the year, except for May 5, 2018, for the Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival. The arts and craft booths are in the market on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays. Open from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., your well-behaved, leashed pets are welcome. Please keep them on a short leash to avoid trip hazards, and the big dogs need to be careful, too. We don’t want them to know anyone off their feet or reach onto any of our vendors display tables. Asking to please not allow them to pee on our vendor’s tablecloths or signage should go without asking.
This is a rain or shine market, located on North Seventh Street in historic, Fernandina Beach, between Alachua and Center Streets.
